Job Description

To provide department based technical and resource management for pipe shop work on 1st shift for Ships Completion

Responsibilities for this position include:

Act as the primary point of contact for the pipe shop in assigned areas of the shipyard
Lead the execution of construction activities to support ship/unit construction schedules
Provide technical guidance and oversight to pipe shop supervisors and mechanics
Monitor quality of work performed and ensure employees have adequate training to execute pipe work with first time quality
Work with area management to assign resources and resolve department deck plate problem.
Make manning moves within assigned area, and recommend manning moves between areas
Accept joint responsibility with area management for trade cost and schedule performance
Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to achieve quality, cost, and schedule goals

Required/Preferred Education/Training

High School Diploma or GED

BIW graduate apprentice

Required/Preferred Experience

Minimum of 5 years in marine pipefitting
Excellent administrative skills: effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving/decision making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict and multiple priorities
Ability to read and comprehend complex technical documents & drawings

Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience
Experience with Earned Value Management System
